Experience & Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university in psychology or related field.
  • Licensed in state of employment (required) and two (2) years of experience with Forensic population (preferred)
  • Corrections experience preferred.

 

A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.

Responsibilities

Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Licensed Behavioral Health Professional with YesCare Louisville Detention Center, Louisville, Ky

SIgn on bonus $6k

 

Under supervision of the Competency Restoration Program Director, this position will work with adult competency/restoration/forensic patients.  The Behavioral Health Professional-Forensic Unit is responsible for evaluating, treating, and providing therapeutic interventions to individuals who have been found incompetent to stand trial. This position will promote optimum mental health and recovery-oriented community reintegration by providing individual and group counseling with an emphasis on competency restoration, psychoeducation and/or behavior modification with the goal of helping patients regain their legal competency.

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to determine the factors contributing to the patient’s incompetence.
  • Assess the patient’s cognitive, emotional, and psychological functioning.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that address the specific mental health issues contributing to incompetency. Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Facilitation of group and individual therapeutic interventions, such as psychotherapy and skill-building to address mental health symptoms for the purposes of restoring competency.
  • Report preparation; expert testimony; data collection and analysis; supervision; and related work as assigned.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on all admissions and discharges for the Competency/Restoration Unit.
  • Respond to any mental health crises that may arise during the competency restoration process.
  • Communicate with legal professionals as necessary and as instructed to provide updates on the patient’s progress.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation.
  • Prepare transition plans for patients being discharged from the unit and facilitate warm handoff with receiving treatment team.
